Equity
As we continue to grapple with the overwhelming aspects of an international pandemic, people across our nation have raised their voice to demand change around systemic racism and its devastating effects.
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing acknowledges that many institutions throughout our country were founded upon and continue to perpetuate systemic racism. Our health care system, including mental health and substance use treatment, is rife with examples of these inequities – particularly with regard to health care access.
We must address the persistent health disparities rooted in systemic racism to improve individual and community health. As an organization, we are committed to raising awareness about health care inequities and providing support to our members as they tackle these issues.
The National Council has compiled webinars, tools and other resources with the most up-to-date materials available to support you in addressing racial inequities and the associated stigmas that lead to mental health and substance use treatment disparities, and to ensure you have the tools to support your patients and providers.
