Pamela Black, MA, invests her passion for working with and for students to increase their learning and success in the school environment into everything she does as a consultant for the National Council’s Trauma Sensitive Schools’ initiative. She works with school teams across the country to align their programs and practices with Trauma Sensitive School values.
Black has been involved in all levels and areas of the educational system, including teaching in general and special education, evaluation and diagnostics for special education placement, consultation and district-level special education and student support administration. She was involved in the development and initial implementation of a district-level trauma-sensitive school’s professional development. As a member of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Work Group she participated in the development of a multi-tiered model of trauma-sensitive schools.
Black has been part of a growing team of educators in the development of the Wisconsin’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Professional Learning System. She is co-author of Wisconsin Trauma Sensitive Schools Learning Modules and companion coaching curriculum as well as the trauma-awareness presentation created to meet the requirement of the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s $1 million grant for schools.
