This recovery-ready community strategy emphasizes the need to establish sustainable community-based recovery support infrastructures in order to combat adolescent substance use. Young People in Recovery’s model integrates eight key components, including: prevention, treatment, harm reduction, judicial and law enforcement, housing, education, employment, and recovery support. Each component is described in the context of prevention, treatment, and long-term recovery. The authors share that community members, officials and advocates, must work to address youth substance use by implanting innovative, evidence-based approaches to make communities recovery-ready.
