University of Vermont Wellness Environment: Preliminary Results of the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Pre- and Mid-Year Screening Survey
View Resource
Researchers tested the efficacy and effectiveness of the University of Vermont Wellness Environment (WE) program through the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) intervention. Participants completed the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST) three times per year. Initial results suggest that WE Application interventions may assist with improving outcomes in relation to alcohol and substance use and depression among college students. The study is limited by the timing of the surveys; survey 1 was disseminated at a more stressful time than survey 2.
