Unlocking Opportunities with Motivational Interviewing in Integrated Care Settings

Individuals in need of mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment services may often be faced with having to make major lifestyle changes to reduce the burden of illness and improve their overall quality of life and wellbeing. Motivational interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based practice that leverages a client or patient-centered approach to guide and support others toward meaningful change, and is applicable across a broad range of care settings. This coaching technique is based on four fundamental processes – engaging, focusing, evoking and planning – to initiate behavior change dialogue between a patient and provider and empower individuals to make meaningful change.

What helps people unlock and resolve ambivalence? How can we engage those who are stuck? What does it take to help them move through change? This webinar will spotlight the role of Motivational Interviewing (MI) as an evidence-based practice for guiding others through the natural processes of change.
